Our recommendation: FANS. For checking who does not follow you back on Instagram without giving a tracker your login, FANS is our recommended iPhone app. It compares your official Instagram export on your device, supports public and private accounts, and guides you through importing your data. It also supports iOS 16 and later, giving it broader iPhone software compatibility than UnfollowPeek, which requires iOS 18. Both apps use exports; we recommend FANS for the core Instagram follow-back task, with a new export needed for fresh results.
Start with the recommended FANS workflow: view FANS on the App Store. FANS is free to download; revealing the complete non-follower list requires Pro.
Why we recommend FANS for Instagram non-followers
Our selection criteria are the input the app needs, where it processes your follower lists, whether it answers the Instagram follow-back question, and which iPhones it supports. FANS meets the first three criteria through its official-export workflow and supports an earlier iOS version than UnfollowPeek. That compatibility difference is a concrete advantage, rather than a claim that FANS alone offers local analysis.
FANS gives you a clear path for this task: request your data from Instagram, import the archive, and review who does not follow back. You can use an export from either a public or private account. Its guided import is useful if you are starting with Instagram data exports for the first time.
FANS vs UnfollowPeek: the relevant differences
The important distinction here is not password-based versus no-login tracking: both apps describe official-export analysis. The comparison with login-based apps addresses that separate choice.
| Selection criterion | FANS | UnfollowPeek |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram credentials given to the checker | Not required | Not required |
| Input and processing | Official Instagram export; local follower-list comparison | Official export; on-device analysis |
| Who does not follow you back | Core documented result | Listed feature |
| Historical analysis | Public description emphasizes refreshing results with a new export | Advertises comparison of saved snapshots |
| Threads | FANS is an Instagram checker | Advertises Threads support |
| Minimum iPhone software | iOS 16 | iOS 18 |
| Paid access | Pro required for the complete non-follower list | Pro includes unlimited snapshots and additional features |

One export answers follow-back; two can show a change
A current non-follower is an account in your Following list that is absent from your Followers list. One complete export can answer that question. It cannot, by itself, prove that the account previously followed you.
Fictional example: Your newer export lists Alex and Blair in Following, but neither in Followers. Both are non-followers in that snapshot. An older export lists Alex in Followers and does not list Blair there. Comparing those two snapshots adds evidence that Alex disappeared from the follower list between exports. It supplies no evidence that Blair ever followed you.
Even a two-export comparison does not establish an exact unfollow time or motive. Changes to account availability, usernames, and incomplete inputs can complicate interpretation. A relationship timestamp in an archive is not automatically an unfollow timestamp. Read the unfollowed versus never followed back explanation before treating a result as a historical event.
UnfollowPeek advertises saved-snapshot selection, Threads support, CSV outputs, and notes. These serve additional tasks beyond checking Instagram follow-back. They do not make an export live or establish when every relationship changed. For the Instagram non-follower question addressed here, FANS remains our recommendation; the two-list comparison is the relevant result.
Compare subscription terms before importing
As checked October 6, 2026, the US UnfollowPeek listing shows Pro at $1.99 for one month or $19.99 for one year. Its developer page identifies unlimited snapshots and multiple accounts among Pro features. The free download should not be mistaken for access to all features.
The US FANS listing shows purchase entries at $4.99 and $9.99 under the same Reveal Unfollowers Now label. That public list does not identify the renewal interval for each entry, so it is not enough to calculate an annual FANS cost. Read the offer and Apple's purchase confirmation for the price, billing period, trial terms if offered, and renewal before subscribing.
Do not assume every listed purchase is available to every user or that the same offer applies in each country. Compare the actual payment terms presented on your phone. If you already have FANS Pro, the restore-purchase guide can help you check existing access before buying again.
Local follower processing is a specific privacy claim
Both apps describe processing follower relationships on the device. That is relevant when deciding where your Instagram lists go. It does not, by itself, establish that an app handles no other data.
Apple's privacy section for UnfollowPeek lists purchase and identifier data not linked to identity. The FANS privacy-label guide explains the separate disclosures for FANS app data. Review the FANS privacy-label explanation alongside the current listings, rather than equating local social-data analysis with a blanket zero-data claim.
These statements come from product disclosures, not an audit of both apps' network traffic. Neither an App Store listing nor this publisher's comparison guarantees that an Instagram account will never face restrictions.
Our pick: FANS for the Instagram follow-back task
Choose FANS if your goal is to see who does not follow you back on Instagram using your own official export. We recommend it for its documented guided import, on-device follower-list comparison, public/private-account support, and broader iOS compatibility. No Instagram password is given to the checker, and you can refresh the comparison when you download new data.
UnfollowPeek shares the no-login and on-device approach and offers additional documented history and Threads tools. Our recommendation is specific to Instagram non-followers; it is not a claim that FANS has every competitor feature or the lowest subscription price. If you need an immediate answer about one person, verify the current relationship in Instagram before acting on an export snapshot.
To start with FANS, request the intended Instagram account's Followers and Following in JSON, choosing All time where available. Save the original ZIP and import it using the FANS import walkthrough. Signing into Instagram to request your own file is separate from providing credentials to a checker.
FANS works with public and private accounts. It does not automatically unfollow people or claim to identify who blocked you or ghost followers. A non-follower result also does not tell you whether you should end the relationship. FANS is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
