Does FANS Sync Instagram Data Across Devices? (2026)

This is intentional. A privacy-first unfollow tracker should not require a permanent account connection, background cloud sync, or a dashboard that stores your follower list online. FANS is built around a narrower workflow: export your data from Instagram, import the ZIP into FANS, and review the accounts you follow that are not present in your follower list.

That makes FANS the best solution if you want to use more than one device without giving an app your Instagram password, verification code, cookies, browser session, linked Meta account access, or permission to automate actions.

What does not sync automatically?

Do not assume your Instagram export, imported snapshot, or visible result list will automatically follow you from one device to another. The safe model is file-based, not live-account-based.

How to use the same export on another device

A complete official Instagram JSON ZIP can be imported on another compatible iPhone or iPad. The important part is keeping the archive intact. Do not unzip it, rebuild it, remove folders, convert it to CSV, merge it with another export, or upload it to a third-party converter.

1. Confirm the other device can install FANS. The current app requires iOS 16 or later.
2. Move the original Instagram JSON ZIP with a private method you control, such as AirDrop, iCloud Drive, On My iPhone through a cable workflow, or another trusted Files provider.
3. Open Files on the destination device and make sure the ZIP is fully downloaded, not just a cloud placeholder.
4. Open FANS and select the original ZIP through the Files picker.
5. Review the results as the same export snapshot.

Using iCloud Drive is optional

iCloud Drive can be a convenient way to move a ZIP from one Apple device to another, but it is not required by FANS. It is also different from a FANS server upload. If a file is in iCloud Drive, that is because you or your device storage settings placed it there, not because FANS needs a cloud account to compare followers and following.

When to reuse a ZIP vs request a new export

Reusing a ZIP is fine when you want the same historical snapshot on another device, need to retry an import, or want to preserve a baseline from before a cleanup. It is not the best choice when you want today's non-follower list.

Instagram exports are snapshots. If you followed new people, removed followers, changed username, switched devices, or waited several days, request a fresh official JSON export for current results. FANS will compare whatever snapshot you import, so the export date matters more than the device you use.

How this works with multiple Instagram accounts

If you manage more than one Instagram profile, request a separate official export for each account and keep the ZIP files clearly named at the outer file level. Do not merge two exports together or import a rebuilt archive. FANS checks the account data in the export you selected, so mixing files can create confusing or wrong results.
